History of
AG Cilander

Important milestones

In 1814, two businesspeople from Herisau founded Appretur Meyer & Mittelholzer, a finishing company, in Glattbach. This laid the foundations for the oldest textiles company in the region of Appenzell. In 1873, this private company, established by Laurenz Meyer and Johann Konrad Tribelhorn, became a public limited company. It was renamed AG Cilander 14 years later. Today, AG Cilander develops fabrics, products and technologies for customers in the industrial, traditional wear, interior design & architecture, protection & health, mobility, sports, and sustainable fashion industries, and exports them to more than 80 countries.
